Algebra I Unit 3: Systems of Equations

Collector: Ann V.

The lessons in the third unit of the Algebra 1 module examine systems of equations. Scholars begin by watching a video to learn about the standard form equation of a line. They see how to determine whether ordered pairs represent a linear equation solution and how to rewrite the equation in slope-intercept form. The second lesson focuses on systems of inequalities. Class members learn how to identify solutions to inequality and how to graph inequalities. Next, scholars learn how to graph systems of linear equations to determine whether they have one solution, no solution, or many solutions, then move on to learn about the substitution method and the elimination method for solving equations. The unit ends with a review packet. Scholars determine whether points are solutions to linear equations, graph systems of equations and inequalities, and solve linear equations using the substitution and elimination methods.
