EngageNY Grade 7 ELA: Module 2b, Unit 3
Collector:
Ann V.
The final unit in the 2b Module has seventh graders researching how media and advertising perpetuate gender stereotypes. To begin, class members examine the role of gender in Pygmalion, look at advertising in the 1890s, and read the article "Cover Girl Culture," about modern advertising. As a final performance task, students analyze a print ad, modify it, and make a counter ad that does not rely on gender stereotypes. The 13 lessons in the collection complete Module 2b.
