Keep Finding the Positive

Group members take on roles to create a positive classroom community. Learners perform their role—leader, recorder, presenter, timekeeper, encourager, and collector—in preparation for a formal presentation of their positive thinking collages. Participants complete a second journal entry and compare it to their first composition.

Instructional Ideas
  • Print, copy, and laminate group role cards to keep them in good condition during continued use 
  • To stress the importance of being productive group members, reuse cards during other lessons that require pupils to gather in groups 
  • Take note of the role each class member performs, encourage them to try new roles every time they work in a group

  • The second lesson in a series of three uses material from the first lesson
