Understanding My Rights and Responsibilities

Three scripted lessons comprise a unit designed to inform special needs students about their rights and responsibilities in high school. In the first lesson class members examine the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA), Child Find, and Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE). The second lesson focuses on Section 504 and The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), two laws that affect students with disabilities after high school. The final  lesson has students completing  a Planning Guide for what they want to do after high school.
